About me and my therapy practice
I am trained in Gestalt Therapy, a deep and direct approach that focuses on what is happening in the here and now.
In a typical session, we might focus on what is happening in the present between us, identifying fixed patterns and experimenting with new ways of being that may be more satisfying.
This does not mean that we ignore the past or future: we might explore how unfinished business from the past, or your hopes and fears for the future, are affecting your life today.
People come to therapy for many reasons, and sometimes the work is discovering what these reasons are. I offer support for a wide range of personal and relational issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, loss and shame. This includes exploring the impact of personal, social and cultural histories on our lives.
Underlying this, I believe that it is the quality and depth of the relationship that is most therapeutic. I offer a caring and responsive presence with whom you can explore what is difficult, as well as what is joyful, in your life.
Practice description
I hold sessions in natural settings. We walk or sit during these sessions, as you wish. This is an alternative to traditional therapy which suits some people, particularly those who feel connected with nature.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation. After this, we would have an introductory session in which you can decide whether what I offer is a good fit for you.
